Solarplexus.ai
Client: Solarplexus.ai internship
Role: UX/UI designer
Year: 2024
Background
Solarplexus.ai is an advanced AI-driven platform designed to enhance personalized marketing communication. The company empowers businesses to create custom marketing assets that align with their brand, facilitating meaningful and effective engagement with their audience. By leveraging artificial intelligence, Solarplexus.ai helps marketers cut through the noise, improve dialogue, and boost conversions. The platform specializes in tailoring marketing and communication assets to specific segments and personas, thereby increasing the impact and efficiency of marketing strategies.
Goals
Since Solarplexus.ai was still in its early stages and the product had not yet been launched when I started my internship, there was no existing design or user interface. My primary goal was to develop a comprehensive interface for the product, covering all its pages, and to create an onboarding process to guide users through account creation and project initiation. This work needed to be completed within the current sprint to ensure the product was ready for its planned launch in the summer of 2024.
My impact
I worked on redesigning multiple pages of the product (included below) page by page, along with the supervision of the team and the CEO.
Process
Iteration and validation
Since the product lacked a user interface and the team had already conducted user testing via Hotjar, we had a wealth of data and insights to draw from. Users struggled with understanding how to create a new project, which is the primary function of the product. Therefore, I decided to prioritize that area. I also created a step-by-step onboarding flow so that users easily can create an account for their own company. Below are the main principles I aim to focus on during the ideation process.
Value for the user - Importance of information - Common patterns
I started by creating a simple and smooth step-by-step onboarding process. Following that, I designed the workflow for creating a project, also using a step-by-step approach. This allows users to easily follow along and see what's completed and what still needs to be done before AI can generate various templates, such as newsletters or ads.
During the tests conducted on the product, it became clear that users had difficulty creating an account and understanding how to upload their company's brand, tone of voice, font style, etc. Therefore, I created an onboarding flow that includes these steps. This way, users set up all the important details when creating their account, and afterward, they can easily start creating their projects. In this video, Ulrica (CEO) demonstrates how the onboarding process works.
On the left, you can see how the design previously looked in the product. It was difficult to navigate, and many users pointed this out in the tests. I continued to use a step-by-step process to simplify creating a project and generating various assets based on the company's own brand. The product has many different components, and based on the insights from the tests, I believe this was the best decision to start with.
When the project is complete, 10 different assets are generated that the user can edit. I also redesigned this view to make it more consistent with the rest of the product. This can help users understand the tool more easily. After editing an asset, users can choose to apply the design to all other assets by using the "apply to all" button. It's a simple button but very convenient for the users.
In the previous design, users also had difficulty understanding how to upload their brand and how to make changes if something in the company changed. Therefore, I created a simple design for this, allowing users to easily upload a new logo, tone of voice, brand colors, etc.
Conclusion
This has been one of the most enjoyable projects I've worked on so far. I gained an incredible amount of knowledge about designing in a startup environment and creating something from scratch without any existing design to draw from. I am very proud of my contribution and grateful for the support I received from the team during this sprint. Of course, this design must be tested and iterated upon, keeping the users and their insights at the forefront. All in all, I couldn't be more satisfied, and I am very happy to have been entrusted by the team to create this design for their first launch.
